Subject: Mater Heart Run
Mater Misericordiae Hospital started a cardiac program in 1995 to conduct open-heart surgery for children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The Cardiac Program begun over 20 years ago, when the leadership of the Hospital realized that very little cardiac work of good quality was being carried out in the country, as patients who were financially capable had to go overseas for treatment. Large majority, many of them children, had no recourse to quality Medicare and were destined to a sickly life and premature death.
The Mater Heart Run was started in 2002 as one of the main fundraising avenues for the Cardiac program. Initially held only in Nairobi, the Heart Run has grown over the years to several other locations. As at 2018, over 3000 heart procedures had been performed courtesy of the support from well-wishers, sponsors and doctors. This meant that media & communication during the campaign was a crucial element in order to raise bot awareness & resources.
In 2018 and also 2019, Blackboy Media was the official communications partner for the annual Mater Heart run, for which the 2018 edition which was held simultaneously in 9 different counties, and 2019 edition held in 10 counties. We were tasked with conceptualizing the communications material, scripting and producing all the TV & radio Adverts and we can confidently say we delivered as per the clients expectation

Conclusion
The 2018 edition recorded the highest sign-up ever with over 43,000 people participating in the various runs countrywide. We are yet to get a report for the 2019 edition.
